Supporting the 2023 Earth Hour campaign

The Earth Hour campaign contributes positively to raising public and social awareness of energy saving, environmental protection and responding to climate change.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade asked the People’s Committees of provinces and centrally run cities to organise communication activities in support of Earth Hour during March, to attract the attention of many organisations, agencies and residents to take part in the campaign; and to encourage organisations, agencies and residents to switch off lights and unnecessary appliances during the lights-off event in support of Earth Hour.

EVN directed its member corporations and provincial and city power companies to coordinate on communication at transaction points and offices, and to encourage individuals, agencies and customers to switch off unnecessary electrical devices during the event. EVN’s units are responsible for ensuring grid safety during the event.

Through the “60+” symbol, Earth Hour’s message to the community is not only about saving electricity, saving energy and protecting the environment for one hour, but about practising it regularly throughout all 365 days of the year.

With its effect and reach across the country, the campaign also contributes to realising Vietnam’s commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions to reach net-zero emissions by 2050.
